following the �frequency vs atkins � mind merge lp� (march 2017), featuring the collaboration between orlando voorn and juan atkins, italian label out-er (out electronic recordings) welcomes long standing detroit producer terrence dixon for a 21 track triple vinyl pack �12.000 miles of twilight�, out in july 2017. this is dixon�s fifth album and follows his last �badge of honor� released back in 2013. the legend has been putting out material since the mid -nineties. recognized worldwide for his visionary, futuristic sound, dixon unites ages of inspiration traversing diverse musical styles including electro, jazz and minimal sci-fi techno. this overall hypnotic approach can also be seen in his parallel project population one, which appeared on out-er respectively in early 2016 with two-tracker solo �temporary insanity ep�, as well as in late 2016 with �temporary insanity remixes� which saw the label offering reinterpretations from cosmin trg, pangaea, voiski and label co-founder simone gatto. �12.000 miles of twilight� remains an experimental techno asset offering a non-linear, emotionally absorbing journey into the singular experimental edge of the detroit artist, pulling the listener in all kind of directions from the opening track to the closing finale.

randomer is back at once again for l.i.e.s. and again delivers the goods. taking the entire a-side is smoking, and it does exactly that as it s a full on club fueled rugged electro cut that does the job straight up and down. velvet opens the b-side on a different note building huge tension with its buried rave chords waiting just for the right moment for the drums to drop, a proper club beast if used at the right time. rye closes it out taking it in the other direction with tribal drums and voices in tow driving it home. massive!

1985, restored from a vintage vinyl copy (masters were lost long time ago in chicago...) copies sold for 0. on the youtube thread for the track a cousin of t. woodard says they pressed 2.500 copies of this - but that seems hard to believe unless they didnt sell and got recycled at trax and/or were simply thrown out, as this rarely show up anywhere. this is a very early and simple track which sums up the new and experimental sounds of early 1985 along with tracks such as jesse sanders on & on and funkin keith funkin with the drums. basic early house music that havent lost any of its relevance.

medical records in collaboration with our friends at crispy nuggets blog are happy to reissue a very obscure australian gem from the 1980s. ironing music were a three piece band from brisbane. they originally formed in 1984 as a result of their collective love for new order, human league and eventually jean michel jarre and cabaret voltaire. comprised of bass and electic guitar, yamaha dx-7, melodica and an 808, they recorded a 12- single as their sole outpt in 1985 in a limited run of 250 copies (obviously excruciatingly rare now!). it was recorded in their bedroom studio with at teac 4 track. the video clip for the -hit- shopping bag women was played on several national and local television music shows. they also recorded demos in hopes of landing a lp deal which unfortunately didn t attract any takers at the time. they actually only played 3 gigs and were forced to disband after one of their members fell ill in 1986. the lp presented here included the original 4 track single as well as hand picked demos which nicely congeal to form a well rounded lp documenting the band s brief existence. they can best be described as lo-fi synth pop with an emphasis on excellent pop songs and interesting synth/instrument arrangements. the first track shopping bag women is infectiously catchy and just screams to be worn out in the club. fans of early to mid 80s synth pop and new romantic will fall in love. the tracks have been lovingly remastered by martin bowes at the cage, london. features original reproduction of the front cover painting. presented in a limited edition on 180gram vinyl.

medical records continues it s fascination with all things mark van hoen this time presenting the sole album release by autocreation entitled mettle . autocreation was formed in 1992 when mark van hoen was roomates in west london with the other members kevin hector and tara patterson. kevin and tara as dj s at the university of london, tara had recorded with the hafler trio prior to this the 3 lived in an apartment block that was full of acid house devotees, djs, and house producers. the 3 friends spent a lot of time in cutting-edge london clubs which inspired and influenced their music. a remix they worked on - seefeel s -plainsong- became the blueprint the autocreation sound, as well as feeding back into seefeel s sound on their own subsequent material. autocreation were heavily influcenced by contemporary dub techno such as basic channel, mika vanio as well as more pure techno such as kirk degiorgio and jeff mills. they recorded the album in late 1993, sandwiched between the recording of van hoen s locust album weathered well and his collaboration with seefeel s darren seymour aurobindo:involution . the album notably features heavy use of modular synthesizers (aries 300, digisound 80 and others), quite unique for a techno record of the time. the album was released on the orb s label inter-modo on cd only - directly following the orb s collaboration with robert fripp (ffwd). artwork was designed by the designers republic - responsible for the vast majority of warp records catalog and various releases by the orb. the album is a dark, brooding ambient techno masterpiece. similar in vein to locust s weathered well but more techno/idm genre compliant that made it at times dance floor compatible. for this special edition (first time on vinyl), the album is expanded to a double lp featuring bonus tracks. the jacket is a gatefold featuring a montage of photos in the gatefold. specially remastered by mark van hoen. presented on limited edition high quality double 160-gram classic black vinyl. for fans of early locust, dark ambient techno, and early 90s dance floor friendly idm.

�umwelt�s 12inch �� city� from 1999 was one of the most impressive 12inches i had at that time and i played the shit out of it. it was dark and very emotional, it was abstract but also driving at the same time. this was 1999 though, before discogs and before facebook and all the other platforms people have now to do research on artists they like and follow their work. at that time it was the record shop � and that was it. nobody knew this guy though, and i didn�t get my hands on any of the following releases, so in my world there was no follow-up to this record ever and i thought it would remain a one-off gem in my record box. until by some coincident i recently discovered he was still around and had actually released numerous releases in the meantime. i was very excited and contacted him straight away and ended up booking him for krake festival in the same year. undoubtedly his set was one of the best of the whole festival! he took the roof off the place with his mix of raw electro, industrial and rave and everybody was talking about it afterwards, saying it was the highlight of the festival! talking to him i learnt, that most of the tracks he played were his own, mostly unreleased. he produces without computers, all his tracks are single takes, there is no editing, no mixing afterwards, he only has a stereo track recording which is what it is. he owns a cutting machine which he uses to cut dubplates from his tracks, which he then plays out during his sets. this whole information about this very unique artistic approach just killed it for me, and since working with him was so nice as well, i asked him for a demo for killekill and its labels and was hoping for tracks i could make a great 12&#8243,, of. i got 14 tracks and after weeks of trying to pick the best, i finally realized i held one of the best electro albums ever in my hand � banging beats and the balls to go big and epic, subtle melodies, drama, funk � this album has got it all, and what�s most important, the music on it is the exact opposite of so much other music nowadays: it is emotional, it tells a story, it is easily recognizable and it is not interchangeable. it�s just umwelt.� nico deuster

here comes argoman, the antihero of disco music. inspired by the 1960s b movie super hero argoman, the name literally means lazy man, however its also a combination of three italian producers names, who started the project about one year ago. the track chimicalissimo merges the vibrant rhythms of disco with the emotional approach of modern electronic music. its a peak-time dancefloor banger completely produced with analog synths and drum machines. the tune is a proper voyage between syncopated rhythms and heavy basslines soaked with synth melodies that often recall idm progressions. the dub version gives more space to a melancholic piano melody that culminates through analog arpeggios to an unstoppable build. black spuma remix finally turns the track into a slow burning disco monster.

with his new release the polish transatlantyk sails into - as yet uncharted - waters of the lol- fi breakbeat house scene to bring you the debut of dj stoner dad. not much is known about the man behind the nickname, except that he is a dj, a dad and that he likes getting his hits from the bong on during the infamously long warsaw afterparties. the -raw romantics ep- showcases his own take on the deeply saturated, smokey and breakbeat-infused house genre. fake strings is a certified banger alluring the dancefloor with a great combo of rolling bass, squashed kicks and hats, grimy, atmospheric pads and a bits of spoken word thrown in. magic phunk brings that break again and for a good measure. drums are floating over an ocean worth of blazing pads, liquid synths, acid riffs, pillowy, yet dirty chords and whatever else dj stoner dad could lay his hands on at the time. iv is a full frontal ambient jam, with little bits of wandering drums coming into the picture at the very end. finally v brings cinematic influences over slightly uneasy slow groove.

a sublime slice of boogie-funk, alec mansion has steadily gained the status of a crate-digging classic. accordingly, it has been near-impossible to unearth a physical copy in good condition for many years. be with is delighted to present the first ever vinyl reissue, remastered in time to grace the discerning terraces and boat parties of the coming summer months. originally released in 1983, the lp arrived with impeccable credentials programming duties were handled by dan lacksman (the brains behind telex, the belgian kraftwerk) whilst production came from marc moulin (of jazz-rock fusion heroes placebo). at the time its merits were mainly praised by radio and studio heads. today, mansions masterpiece is lauded by boogie aficionados from liege to los angeles.

following the success of �ride� with miss kittin, eminent sci+tec founder dubfire returns with another chaos-conjuring techno composition. previously the sole-preserve of his epic sense-blurring hybrid show, dubfire is finally unleashing �dust devil�� his first solo release in several years, �dust devil� is all about precision momentum. a move that dubfire�s made his signature, you can physically feel movement and destination throughout. especially as we reach the short breakdown where the riff revolves faster and higher, providing space for the echoed stabs that whirl and twist around you intensely. as the drums re-ignite, the riff is suddenly converted into groove energy as the jack-minded persistence brings the elements back together with pure focus. this is what ali has to say� �this was an instrumental i had done that i wasn�t quite sure what to do with. it wasn�t strong enough for a lead single and it always felt as though there was something missing, perhaps a spoken or sung vocal. so i sort of put it out of my mind until it was time to compile the music for the hybrid show back in the summer of 2013. once i had the backbone of the set list, along with the visual look, there seemed to be a more defined mood and look. and when i happened upon this track again it seemed to have been tailor-made for this show. it was also nice to insert something no one had heard before to break things up a bit.

it took me a couple of years get invited to christophe de groot�s (aka circadian rhythms) homebase, and a couple more years to dive into his sonic archive. but time tells and basic moves 02 is what came out. the two tracks were recorded at earguard studio in brussels around 1996, at a moment when his interest was moving away from club music towards other golden musical horizons. �frequency� is a macro tech-house track in mid tempo.
i�m super happy i could archive it on wax because we almost fucked up the master dat tape by blowing up the player during a marathon listening session at his place. we had to open the device, unroll the tape across his house (full of records) and fold it back into the mini dat cassette. after a few hours and twenty metres of tape, the problem was solved and the tracks archived: �a dose of authenticity at a time of post-counter-cultural stagnation�. �house speaker call� originated in proto-techno forms. christophe never sees techno as a type of music but as a process. as a producer, collector and deejay he always dives deep into authentic forms of electronic music. deg�s antic personality shines out in the middle of the harsh beat-driven electro/techno track like a hopeful melody passing by on its elliptic orbit. tune your cells into his vibrations and get ready for these two timeless club tracks.

bottom forty s fifth release and second vinyl press showcases two french producers living and banging the drums in berlin, a long time bottom forty favorite, la fraicheur, teamed up with veteran producer and leonizer record label ownerleonard de leonard. la fraicheur, a producer of emotional and story-telling minimal techno, is seen here paired with leonard de leonard to turn up the heat on our first club-banger release track, -afraid of the groove-. la fraicheur and leonard de leonard beat the hell out of their analog elektron to lay out a relentless whipping melody that demands a twirling dance floor while a classic minimal bass line, rhythm and -she s uh-fraid of the groove- sample keep this track dark, dirty and underground. in a beautiful contrast to the heart-pounding a-side, flip to the b-side for -une place au soleil-. literally translated as -a place in the sun-, the saying is more about conveying the emotion of your hard work is putting you in a good place in life . -une place au soleil- is a gorgeous deep house track filled with teasingly melodic stabs and subtle hardware sounds that come and go, crashing on the record like powerful but soothing waves on the hot beach sands. while -afraid of the groove- may twist a peak-hour dance floor into a frenzy, -une place au soleil- will entrance them in the after hours, reminding dancers why electronic music is so beautiful and why dance floors can carry so much emotional release.

the snooze fest is over and we�re back in the saddle with the first output from colin la plante aka the mole aka half owner of this imprint. he�s been touring up a storm and playing out a lot of new music we�re excited to share with you this year.

this four tracker definitely shows off �new directions� for the mole � nothing too outlandish mind you, but the path he chose with the title and crowd favourite �gelb grun blau� definitely has these tracks leaning towards the centre of a dj sets vs. beginning or end�spiralling kick drums with a fine grind blend of digital synths, analog synths, drum machines and the occasional samples here. vape-house anyone?
the closer �back in the studio game� is a beatless one created just for the sunrises of your life.

ali renault s ever on-point vivod label welcomes uk techno stalwart tobias schmidt to the table for a return to a time when techno could be slamming, witty and downright fun at the same time. higher is loaded with funk, riding some kind of bassy lick with tightly wound drums and off-kilter synth warbles, but then -glass walls- ramps up the madness with a lead line that will stop people in their tracks before making them freak out with gusto. -pink milk- shows no let up in the energy, although the parping trumpet lines that lead the track give everything a jaunty, upbeat feel compared to the darkness of the a side. play people is a true tribute to the wonky techno scene schmidt came up with, all skronky swing and lopsided synths for all the true techno freaks out there.

solid uncoated returns with its second release, again compiling four productions from the inner circle of its network. d�evoé opens the field with »failures«, a gloomy and cavernous hardware track resembling the bassline and pad recipe from s/u 001 in a more offensive manner. next up is arian alexander, one half of the monogenic duo, with »pakchoi«: a lesson in sub-heavy, effective purism, pushing sparse chord stabs over a swinging 909 rhythm. opening up the flipside there is bool again, another acquaintance from the first 12 inch, delivering his trademark peak-time sounddesign within a massive, morphing chord sculpture. the circle is completed by sub accent from france, another newcomer to the s/u family, represented here with an amtmospheric track of industrial-leaning, widescreen ambienttechno. limited to 300 hand stamped copies.

occassional duo pjotr g & dubiosity have become household prruk names within short time. a couple of months after the well received �a man is no island� ep a new submission to the ever extended prrukblk catalog was provided in the form of �savant�, a 4 track spanning work of staggering techno with the significant filmic elements that pjotr g and dubiosity cleverly incorporate into their hazy works of techno. whereas the a side is based on these elements, on the b side darker elements are introduced. �savant� is a ferm but uplifting techno record.

welcome to the long awaited 5th vinyl output of huehelix. this time, we focus on ryuji takeuchi, who brings 4 versatile factors to complete the renaissance artistique ep. factor a is no doubt the most straight techno style banger, which ryuji himself has been dropping in a peaktime of his every set at gigs in berlin, rotterdam, osaka and more, that always takes audience to another place. factor b shows a strong influence from ebm, noise, industrial music, which can be a starter of a set, with mad and strong break before its peaktime. factor c is for sure the strongest and hardest track in this ep, with high bpm with crazy acid synth melody. factor d closes the ep with percussive and synthy aspects. this ep really indicates how ryuji has evolved for his entire career and where he�s heading to. definitely the one not to miss. please keep your eyes and ears open, huehelix never stops.

claude debussy (+1918) was one of the most popular and forward thinking composer associated with impressionist music. his innovative and at this time new way to compose music with non traditional scales and chromaticism inspired countless artists from the likes of steve reich, philip glass, miles davis and herbie hancock. remarkable attributes of his music were i.e. the usage of parallel chords, bitonality and many compositions of whole-tone and pentatonic scales and all this surely reminds us on contemporary electronic music where you hardly find limits or boundaries when it comes to traditional, harmonic sounding scale tone music. after studying countless composers of the last centuries marc romboy decided to accept the challenge to edit, remix and reconstruct several works of his favorite french composer, ranging from �la mer� to -prélude à l après-midi d un faune�. romboy: �one sentence of debussy impressed me a lot when he said that he simply intents to write new sounding music. this is and has been exactly my goal, to create kind of unheard sounds�. on the album romboy performs together with the dortmund philharmonic orchestra, the renowned conductor ingo-martin stadtmüller, the well respected düsseldorf based concert master miki kekenj and sound programmer ali khalaj. the recordings was directed december 12th 2016. it s the first live recording ever released on an album where electronic sounds and classical components were merged in such manner.

london�s ghost writerz are back with a banger! following a slew of releases on tru thoughts and a recent mixtape -welcome to ghost town- heating up the streets, jimmy screech and sleepy time ghost return with a big splash on nice up! records. based around a familiar reggae riddim, the track tells the tale of jimmy�s foundation in soundsystem culture, starting in the 80s and name-checking legends such as shabba ranks, yellowman, smiley culture along the way. as the riddim flips we shift forward a generation, 90s dancehall and rap dominate, giving props to hip hop royalty such as busta rhymes and 2pac, then finally firing off a huge jungle climax, dripping in enough amen breaks to set the dancefloor alight whilst giving a little history of the musical heritage behind ghost writerz.
